Sheldon Conservation Area
The approximately 115-acre Sheldon Conservation Area in Millsfield protects a diverse landscape of working forest, wetlands, and streams that contribute to the Androscoggin River watershed. Located along Route 26, also known as the Moose Path Trail, the property supports wildlife habitat, clean water, and the rural character of northern New Hampshire.
The land will remain a working forest, with future timber harvests guided by a formal forest management plan designed to protect water quality, wildlife habitat, and long-term forest health. The property also includes a snowmobile and ATV trail that connects with a broader regional recreation network.
The Sheldon Conservation Area lies within The Nature Conservancy’s Resilient and Connected Landscape Network, highlighting its importance for climate resilience, biodiversity, and wildlife connectivity. Conservation of the property was supported by the landowners, The Nature Conservancy, the Tillotson Foundation, private foundations, and ACT donors.
