Stratford Conservation Areas
The 37-acre Wildwoods Conservation Area in Stratford protects an entirely forested property dominated by northern hardwood-conifer forest. The property contributes to one of the largest unfragmented forest blocks in the region and lies within a globally important bird area.
Wildwoods is protected through a “Forever Wild” conservation easement, allowing the forest to develop naturally over time toward old-growth conditions. This long-term protection will support forest structure, wildlife habitat, biodiversity, carbon storage, and ecological resilience.
The property is also part of a larger landscape identified for its importance to climate resilience and forest connectivity. Conservation of Wildwoods was made possible through the commitment of the landowners and support from The Nature Conservancy, the Tillotson Foundation, private foundations, and ACT donors.
