ACT and NH Audubon’s Ammonoosuc Chapter bring you another fascinating illustrated program with retired US Forest Service forester, member of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Legacy Organization and man of many hats, Dave Govatski. Dave will share the legacy of the CCC in the White Mountain region of New Hampshire and Maine grounding us in history, and sharing stories and photos of local camps and projects.
Join us to learn about life in the CCC and their motto – "We Can Take It" through the lens of history. We’ll consider the causes of the Great Depression, the role of the Dust Bowl, and the Bonus Army March on the nation's capital and how they are tied to the formation of the CCC. We’ll also hear more about Eleanor Roosevelt’s attempt to create an all-female equivalent to the CCC.
This free Zoom presentation begins at 6 p.m. please register to get the link with log-in information.
The program is jointly sponsored by the Ammonoosuc Conservation Trust and Ammonoosuc Chapter of NH Audubon.
We hope to see you there!
