Join us for ACT's very first virtual Star Party with ACT member, volunteer, and passionate astronomy enthusiast, Gary Ghioto, on Thursday, August 20th at 6 pm. Gary will introduce us to the summer constellations, which planets are visible and how best to observe the annual Perseid meteor shower.
Gary's down-to-earth approach (pun very much intended) to finding constellations and bright stars is accessible to all ages and levels of experience. Online information sources will be discussed to help guide budding stargazers to begin their exploration of the night sky with maps, satellite prediction websites and more. Along the way, Gary will also discuss the importance of preserving our night sky from artificial light pollution so the stars and planets will always shine brightly in our region.
Looking for more sky gazing fun? Follow us on Facebook! Gary will be sharing observation tips, sky lore and helping us discover "what's up" in our skies as the moon changes, the skies shift with the seasons and meteors come and go.
This free online presentation begins promptly at 6 pm; please register to get the link with log-in information.
