Water Play!
Here are some ideas to get you started with at-home water play!
Pour this into that! Fill up a bucket and practice pouring water from one container to another (works on dexterity, focus, can also involve measuring too!)
Sponge races: get at least two buckets and fill one with water. Each team gets a sponge and soaks it in one bucket, and then runs it over and empties it in another bucket. You can work together as a team or set up a competition.
Surface tension: try to fill a cup up the very brim without spilling it over. See how those tiny molecules are sticking together and resisting flowing over?!? Can you float anything on top of that?
Splish Splash: How many different ways can you splash water? Any size container filled with water will do! See how if you hit the water with different speeds, body parts, etc. can change the way you move the water.
Ask your children: As you play with water, what do you notice? Do the smells around you change? What about your feeling of the temperature? What does water sound like?
Thanks to our partner, the Gale River Cooperative Preschool in Bethlehem, for helping our area parents get kiddos outside for fun no matter the time of year.
